Thanks for your input and kind words.

We think there are still a fair number of ARC users, but it was also a steep learning curve for many. So, we still include the ARC and all the old patches in our optional “LASS Legacy” download.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I think that may be more of a “habit” thing. You have to remember that now, in LASS 3, all the divisis of a section are already in the same master patch, and furthermore, so are all the articulations. No more having to tediously map Key Switches with ARC or having to create an ARC map to edit multiple divisi of the same section. Using the master patches is vastly easier, faster, and more intuitive than the old ARC.. except for maybe a few very edge cases. Also, Native Instruments is slowly deprecating Multis. So that’s something we have to be aware of as developers also.

Any way to assign Vibrato on/off to a controller in LASS 3 the way it could be done in LASS 2.5? It doesn’t appear to be something that can be added they it was introduced here.

Odd that there’s no way to automate this. Do I have to manually toggle this or worse yet, open a duplicate instance of the instrument patch (one with Vib on, one with Vib off), in order to have control? Or just keep it on and use the vibrato control all the time?

    Thx

That is something we have not ported over to LASS 3 (yet). UI-wise, we’ll have to figure out how to do it. But I think it would be handy.

    Thanks for bringing it up.

And this is what I see. On the Violins II Full Section.

You’re right… sorry. I missed the “Full” part.

    Thanks.

As a LASS 2.5 + LS owner LASS 3 is definitely on my list, but I was hoping to put it off for another while in light of all the BF action….

It’s not set in stone yet. But it could be up $20-$30. As LASS owners, you will still get a healthy upgrade discount.

    I hope this helps.

Things can change over time of course, but our intention is to keep current upgrade paths and loyalty paths around for everyone. LASS goes back a long way now and we hope to make it easy for anyone with previous versions to upgrade. That said, the pricing will go up for all paths after this first period.

“this first period” – is this the one that ends tonight?

Loosley. We’re silently extending it a could of days for so people can have time.

Let me know if you have any more questions or if we can be of more help.

    Hi there,

Since our new orchestral engine makes it very easy to have all sections playing, I’m not quite sure I understand your question. Can you explain a little bit more what you are trying to achieve?

    Thank you.

Thanks for the information, but I understood the new RAM management.
Nevertheless, Lass 3 still occupies 1GB of system memory even with completely emptied RAM (purge all samples).
Even after closing Lass 3 within Kontakt, 0.6 GB of system memory remains occupied and is only released again when Kontakt itself is closed.

This happens in the standalone version.

Kontakt within Cubase behaves similarly, with the first instance blocking 1GB system memory and each additional instance only 0.3-0.6 GB.
As already noted, still after executing purge all samples.

It all depends on what Articulation is selected. If for example you Turn off the Switcher and select Pizzicato, you will have a RAM footprint of 68MB (depending on your audio buffer settings).

I noticed that LASS 3 has a much too high memory requirement compared to LASS 2.5.
    An example:
Loaded Devisi B Cello with a short Spicatto articulation playing style.

Lass 2.5: displayed in Kontakt 19.75 MB, not recognizable in the Windows task manager.

Lass 3: displayed in Kontakt 0.71 GB, in the task manager 1.7 GB.
After executing Purge, 1 GB is still used in the task manager.
Also, 0.71 GB is always loaded per devisi by default, regardless of which articulation is selected.

Is this behavior already known and will there be a bug fix for it?

Also, watch this video — Start at 3:06 min:

    https://www.audiobro.com/loading-patches-and-performance-tips/

It is with MSB… but the exact same principles apply since we use the same Orchestral Engine.

    I hope this helps.

Depending on the sector sizes on your disk, the size may vary per hard drive. If the library loads in Kontakt, you’re good!.

Okay, thanks. Won’t blame you for pricing it where you want to price it!

It looks like the additional sentence on the LASS 3 page about additional “loyalty” pricing has been removed, so no more confusion to be had. Have a lovely weekend.

Yeah.. that sentence was there from the old LASS 2 days (I.e. 3 days ago LOL) .

    Thanks.

The upgrade programs, in this case, were for LASS lite 2, FC 2, etc to LASS 3 or from LASS 3 to MSS.

We hadn’t thought of an MSS to LASS 3 program yet. If you look at our charts on the LASS 3 Page, LASS LIte Page, and MSS Page, there was a LOT of maths and boolean logic we had to code for these sales. We couldn’t also do every reverse permutation. So we considered upgrades in 1 direction FC/Lite -> LASS 2 -> LASS 3 -> MSS.

Not your favorite answer for sure, but maybe we’ll think of something different when things calm down. So don’t beat us up yet :)

    Thank you for your patience.

I have used Notion for several years but have always struggled with getting VST libraries to work well with it. I want to upgrade now to LASS 3 but I am concerned I will have the same problem again. Does anyone have a resource I can be directed to so I can program my own soundset? If I am successful, I will be more than happy to post my file here for anyone to use.

I am not knowledgable about Notion, but we do have a very powerful key switching and CC switching system in LASS 3. Also, LASS 3 uses Cubase, Logic, Performer, and Studio One expression maps.

    I hope this helps.

Just out of curiosity, when it says “downloaded software” did it mean “downloadable software” ? (which would mean that once you make a purchase for a download, you cannot request a refund, regardless of having it downloaded or not)
Or does it actually mean that if you purchased a download but you never downloaded it nor activated the license, you could request a refund?

    Thanks.

Hi again, Andrew! Is there a time limit for returns of downloadable software? I mean, how many days from time of purchase to request a return? Thanks in advance.

If the software has been downloaded, then no returns are allowed. If/When Native Instruments adopt a Dongle solution, then we can revisit this. If you have never downloaded the software, then a sensible 30-day refund policy would be in order. But that would be a”refund” not a return.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi everyone,

apologies if it was already answered somewhere else, however, is this approach nowadays still applicable on the SSD drives? Not filling up the drive, paging file size, etc.? Did you make any paging file adjustments on your drives or just let the operating system do it? Should it be adjusted depending on the RAM size? Is it relevant on the SSD? I am confused, please share your opinion/experiences.

    Thank you.
    Marek

Yes… it’s more about CPU balance than drives. Of course, SSD’s are 100% the way to go, but the same logic applies when using SSDs… because it’s about balancing the CPU load among the CPU cores more evenly.

    I hope this helps.
