Actually, I just found that there is a Sound Variation file for LASS3 too, but it’s mapping is not compatible with that of MSS in terms of keyswitch layout. Most important, a dedicated Sordino legato keyswitch is missing.

In the Sound Variation File there is a “Data” column. It seems I need to know what “data number” I need to enter to activate legato on the Sordinos. There is no congruent CC number in the Kontakt Host or MIDI automation for as far as I can see.

Loosley. We’re silently extending it a could of days for so people can have time.

Let me know if you have any more questions or if we can be of more help.

    Cheers,

Can you tell us what the prices will look like?
As a LASS 2.5 + LS owner LASS 3 is definitely on my list, but I was hoping to put it off for another while in light of all the BF action….

Another articulation I’d love to see would be a particularly violent attack.
Think Shostakovich Symphony No. 10, 2nd movement. Some that lets you create these militant, relentless marcatos and staccatos.

I would love to have an additional ppp layer. Especially one that can go down to extremely slow bowing.
Listen to the end of Mahler’s 9th and you know what I mean. As of now, no string library could do this.

    Hi Sebastian,

    Thanks for the input.
As far as I can tell after playing around more, it must have been an erratic sustain pedal command.

The funny thing is just that I have used the sustain pedal on a few tracks on brass patches (Cinebrass) but never on any string track. By default the sustain pedal is off. I fixed it (well, I do hope so) by deliberately setting the pedal to zero everywhere. Sometimes I get the feeling that Logic can produce weird things that cannot be explained easily. I think it is time for Apple to really re-work MIDI editing, especially in the Piano Roll Editor. E.g. it is just cumbersome to switch between the MIDI channels just to see which automation data is actually active. A visual layer approach in the GUI like in the layer palette of Photoshop would be a good starting point…

Multi-Port Layer: In my experience using several instances of VE-Pro caused massive CPU problems, clicks and pop and omitted notes everywhere. As soon as I was able to pack it all into one instance (but I had to use the Multi-Port layer) all was good and I am running an extensive template with LASS 2.0 + sord – Cinebrass Core+Pro and EWQLSO on a single machine. I am not too concerned about latency since I do not record many live takes.

BTW – maybe this has been explained before… In LASS, if I click on a note in the piano roll editor it always sounds very quiet, almost inaudible, contrary to the actual settings, and playback is fine. Is there some temporary mod wheel reset or something going on?

i am afraid i have to pull the trigger on cinebrass sometime soon (not that that should be a bad thing). but if there would be a complete brass library by audiobro by then i would be totally excited.

of course i would also greatly welcome woodwinds or any further addition to the strings like runs, extended articulations (sul pont, col legno etc.), extremely slow ppp adagio patches (think finale of mahler’s ninth!) and really expressive solo players with controllable (and a lot of) vibrato, and perhaps programmable bow change.

anyway, i leave all that up to santa. ;-)

Looks like the “resume” function is a bit buggy.
After resuming it started to count from 0 again – but judging by the actual files on the drive, it seemed that it did resume correctly.

Well, let’s keep fingers crossed – though I just wish this was a regular FTP connection so I could use a standard download manager and be in control of it myself. Plus not being able to limit the bandwidth for this download is putting me in danger of a mutiny among other users who share this internet connection in this house. Just 14 more hours… Let’s buckle up for the snail ride courtesy of Century Link!

I would like to know how, and to what extent LASS LS will integrate with LASS 2.0

LASS LS got a new interface when it came out and it seems that LASS 2.0’s interface is again different. I did not watch all the videos yet, but in case it is not covered there I would like to know in terms of workflow how LS will integrate with 2.0.

I am afraid the feedback from users might result in additional feature creep though. The audiobros seem to have very little resistance to it.
    :)

then what are we waiting for? let’s add some more features! – let’s add the ability to insert a bow changing event at any given moment via cc. i am sure this will set us back just a few more days won’t it…? :D

i appreciate the noble effort to make it as easy as possible for everyone.

just one thing might be worth for consideration:
not everyone has a blazing fast connection speed (and is able to get one even if money is not the issue) and will have to share that already limited speed with others in the studio or household. it is therefore very beneficial to be able to limit the download stream to allow other internet activities during the time of the download. this is possible right now when using a download utility such as jdownloader, but most proprietary download methods especially in the arena of digital sample libraries do not allow anything BUT clogging the entire bandwidth there is. i don’t know who is providing your download technology but it would be nice to find out if such a feature could be implemented.
it would for sure make my life easier when i hit the purchase “buy” button on lass 2.0 as soon as it is available – and i know i am antsy enough that i will want to start the download right away no matter what, tsunami, hurricane, you name it…

i hope the delay is not only because of the downloader. quite frankly, when i encounter these fancy downloaders they end up being just a headache and cumbersome. this may not be true for everyone, but what i like best is downloading in a bare-bones, old fashioned way – archived files. then i can use jdownloader and just let it run overnight (and i can limit the bandwidth of the download stream to allow other users in the house to have some bandwidth too during the time) – then i like moving the files into place manually – because i know best where i have installed what and i stay in control of what’s going on on my machines.

    perhaps 2.1…

but if we were patient enough to wait for 3.0 we would get an extra set of patches for more romantic vibrato, col legno, and sul ponticello with glissando and tremolo…

with 4.0 we would be entitled for a special bundle pricing with LASB.

and with 5.0 there will be a bundle discount in conjunction with LASW

and if we wait for 6.0 to add the bundle of orchestral percussion then we will get the snare drum articulation without snares that was so strangely omitted by most other libraries for FREE!

i am telling you it is so worth the wait!

oh, and .. did i mention the new set of expressive solo strings…?

    ;-)

+1 me to the list of those who would love to have LASS in 16 bit.

i can’t hear the difference to 24bit either and especially for just composing i like to use as little resources possible while having the maximum articulations loaded and ready.
later for the polished mockup i can still switch to 24bit. but frankly, i don’t even think i need that… when so many tracks of 16 bit samples are mixed into a 24bit mixdown, i still make use of some of the existing headroom…

just wanted to add that i ran into the very same problem in logic 9. but the helpful hints here in this thread solved it.
i just wonder if that is a new logic bug or something? if the reset options are all disabled in the project settings it should not behave like that…
anyway, thanks people for the enlightenment!

I cooked up a multi for you that will mirror the velocities on the channels you specify, by default on every single one. If you have K4, then you can open up the multiscript view and see a table with 64 entries, if a column of that table is fully up, then the incoming velocities on that channel will be swapped (well, mirrored), if it’s not full, it’ll treat velocities as normal. Hope this helps!

    wow! works great!
    thank you bunches!
i just loaded the multi and then loaded an instrument.i haven’t found the “multiscript view” yet, though…

and yes, a velocity polarity button would be great to have in future…
